Nameservers tell the internet which hosting provider controls your domain's DNS records. To use your domain with Cynet hosting, you need to point your nameservers to Cynet's servers. This guide covers how to do that at various popular registrars.
Cynet Nameservers
Point your domain to the following nameservers:
| Nameserver |
|---|
ns1.cynethost.com |
ns2.cynethost.com |
ns3.cynethost.com |
ns4.cynethost.com |
All four nameservers should be added for redundancy and reliability.
Prerequisites
- Access to your domain registrar's control panel (where you purchased the domain)
- Your domain must be unlocked (some registrars lock domains by default)
- If transferring from another host, back up any custom DNS records first
Steps at Cynet (Domain Registered with Cynet)
If your domain is registered with Cynet and you need to update or reset nameservers:
Step 1: Log in to the Cynet Client Area
Go to manage.cynet.com.my and log in.
Step 2: Open Domain Management
Navigate to Domains → My Domains and click on the domain you want to update.
Step 3: Change Nameservers
- Click the Nameservers tab
- Select Use custom nameservers
- Enter the four Cynet nameservers:
ns1.cynethost.com - ns2.cynethost.com - ns3.cynethost.com - ns4.cynethost.com- Click Change Nameservers
Steps at GoDaddy
Step 1: Log in to GoDaddy
Go to godaddy.com and sign in to your account.
Step 2: Open DNS Management
- Go to My Products → Domains
- Click the three dots (⋯) next to your domain → Manage DNS
Step 3: Change Nameservers
- Scroll down to the Nameservers section
- Click Change
- Select Enter my own nameservers (advanced)
- Enter the four Cynet nameservers
- Click Save
- Confirm the change when prompted
Steps at Namecheap
Step 1: Log in to Namecheap
Go to namecheap.com and sign in.
Step 2: Open Domain Settings
- Go to Domain List
- Click Manage next to your domain
Step 3: Update Nameservers
- Find the Nameservers section
- Change the dropdown from "Namecheap BasicDNS" to Custom DNS
- Enter the four Cynet nameservers (one per line)
- Click the green tick (✓) to save
Steps at Other Registrars
The process is similar at most registrars:
- Log in to your registrar's control panel
- Find the domain management or DNS settings page
- Look for Nameservers, DNS Servers, or NS Records
- Switch to Custom nameservers (not "Default" or "Registrar DNS")
- Enter all four Cynet nameservers
- Save the changes
Common registrar names: Exabytes, Shinjiru, IP ServerOne, MYNIC, Google Domains, Cloudflare, Hostinger
DNS Propagation
After updating nameservers, the change needs to propagate across the global DNS network:
| Timeframe | What to Expect |
|---|---|
| 0–2 hours | May start working for some users/regions |
| 2–12 hours | Most users will see the update |
| 12–24 hours | Full global propagation |
| Up to 48 hours | Rare, but possible for some ISPs |
How to Check Propagation
Use these free tools to verify your nameserver update:
- whatsmydns.net — Check NS records globally
- dnschecker.org — Visual propagation map
What Happens After Updating Nameservers
Once propagation completes:
- DNS control moves to Cynet — All DNS records (A, MX, CNAME, etc.) are now managed via cPanel
- Website loads from Cynet — Your domain will serve content from your Cynet hosting
- Email routes through Cynet — MX records will point to Cynet's mail servers
- AutoSSL activates — Free SSL certificate will be issued automatically
Important: If you had custom DNS records at your previous provider (e.g., third-party email MX records, CNAME records for other services), you'll need to recreate them in cPanel → Zone Editor after the nameserver change.
Troubleshooting
Domain not loading after nameserver change
- Wait: Propagation can take up to 24 hours
- Check propagation: Use whatsmydns.net to verify NS records
- Clear cache: Try an incognito/private browser window
- Flush DNS: Run
ipconfig /flushdns(Windows) orsudo dscacheutil -flushcache(Mac)
"Domain not pointed to this server" error in cPanel
Your domain may not be added in cPanel yet. Go to cPanel → Domains → Create A New Domain and add it.
Email stopped working after nameserver change
Your old DNS provider's MX records no longer apply. If you use external email (Google Workspace, Microsoft 365):
- Go to cPanel → Zone Editor
- Delete the default MX records
- Add the MX records from your email provider
- Add any required TXT records (SPF, DKIM, etc.)
Domain is locked and nameserver change fails
Some registrars lock domains by default. Look for a Domain Lock, Transfer Lock, or Registrar Lock setting and disable it temporarily before changing nameservers. Re-enable it after the change for security.
