The built-in Mail app on iPhone and iPad makes it easy to add your Cynet cPanel email. Once set up, you'll receive push notifications and can read, compose, and manage emails directly from your iOS device.
Prerequisites
- A cPanel email account already created (see How to Create an Email Account in cPanel)
- Your full email address and password
- An iPhone or iPad running iOS 15 or later
Email Server Settings
You'll need these during setup:
| Setting | Value |
|---|---|
| Incoming Server (IMAP) | mail.yourdomain.com |
| IMAP Port | 993 |
| Incoming Security | SSL |
| Outgoing Server (SMTP) | mail.yourdomain.com |
| SMTP Port | 465 |
| Outgoing Security | SSL |
| Username | Your full email address |
| Authentication | Password |
Replace yourdomain.com with your actual domain name.Steps
Step 1: Open Settings
On your iPhone or iPad, open the Settings app.
Step 2: Navigate to Mail Accounts
Tap Mail → Accounts → Add Account.
On older iOS versions, this may be under Settings → Passwords & Accounts → Add Account.
Step 3: Select Other
From the list of email providers (iCloud, Google, Yahoo, etc.), tap Other at the bottom.
Step 4: Add Mail Account
Tap Add Mail Account and fill in the following:
- Name: Your display name (e.g., "John Doe") — this appears as the sender name
- Email: Your full cPanel email address (e.g.,
[email protected]) - Password: Your cPanel email password
- Description: A label for this account (e.g., "Work Email" or "Cynet Mail")
Step 5: Select IMAP
At the top of the next screen, make sure the IMAP tab is selected (not POP).
Step 6: Configure Incoming Mail Server
Under Incoming Mail Server, enter:
- Host Name:
mail.yourdomain.com - Username: Your full email address
- Password: Your email password
Step 7: Configure Outgoing Mail Server
Under Outgoing Mail Server, enter:
- Host Name:
mail.yourdomain.com - Username: Your full email address
- Password: Your email password
Step 8: Verify and Save
iOS will verify the server settings. This may take 30–60 seconds. If verification succeeds, tap Save.
If you see a "Cannot Verify Server Identity" prompt, tap Continue — this is safe for Cynet servers and occurs when the SSL certificate is issued under the server hostname rather than your domain.
Step 9: Choose What to Sync
After saving, you can toggle which services to sync:
- ☑ Mail — Required
- ☐ Notes — Optional (syncs iOS Notes to IMAP)
Verifying the Setup
- Open the Mail app
- Your new account should appear in the sidebar under Mailboxes
- Tap the inbox — emails should begin loading within 1–2 minutes
- Send a test email to another address to confirm outgoing works
- Reply to it from the other account to confirm incoming works
Configuring Push Notifications
To get real-time email notifications:
- Go to Settings → Mail → Accounts → Fetch New Data
- Find your cPanel account in the list
- Set it to Push (if available) or Fetch → Every 15 Minutes
cPanel IMAP accounts typically support Fetch mode. If Push isn't available, set Fetch to every 15 minutes for near-real-time delivery.
Managing Your Account
Change Sync Period
By default, iOS syncs recent emails. To load older messages:
- Go to Settings → Mail → Accounts → select your account
- Tap Mail Days to Sync
- Choose: 1 Day, 3 Days, 1 Week, 2 Weeks, 1 Month, or No Limit
Update Password
If you change your email password in cPanel:
- Go to Settings → Mail → Accounts → select your account
- Tap the account name at the top
- Update the password fields for both incoming and outgoing servers
- Tap Done
Remove Account
To remove the email account from your device:
- Go to Settings → Mail → Accounts → select your account
- Tap Delete Account
- Confirm — this only removes it from the device, not from the server
Troubleshooting
"Cannot Verify Server Identity"
This certificate warning appears because the SSL certificate is for the hosting server hostname, not your domain name. Tap Continue — your connection is still encrypted and secure on Cynet servers.
"The Mail server is not responding"
- Verify the host name is
mail.yourdomain.com - Ensure ports are 993 (IMAP) and 465 (SMTP)
- Check that SSL is enabled for both incoming and outgoing
- Try toggling Airplane Mode on/off to reset the connection
- Test your credentials via webmail at
yourdomain.com/webmail
Emails sending but not receiving (or vice versa)
- Sending works, receiving doesn't: Check incoming server settings (IMAP, port 993, SSL)
- Receiving works, sending doesn't: Check outgoing server settings (SMTP, port 465, SSL) — make sure username and password are filled in for SMTP
"Mailbox is full" or no new emails
- Check your mailbox quota in cPanel → Email Accounts
- Delete old emails or increase the quota in cPanel
- Empty the Trash and Junk folders on webmail to reclaim space
