How to Point Your Domain From Another Provider to Cynet Hosting

Point your externally registered domain to your new Cynet hosting account by updating nameservers at your current domain registrar.

How-To 3 min read Updated 2026-03-01 Beginner Cynet Support

Quick Answer

Log in to your domain registrar (where you bought the domain) → Find DNS or Nameserver settings → Replace existing nameservers with ns1.cynethost.com, ns2.cynethost.com, ns3.cynethost.com, and ns4.cynethost.com → Save. Wait 2–24 hours for DNS propagation.

If you've purchased a domain from another provider (e.g., GoDaddy, Namecheap, Exabytes) and subscribed to a Cynet hosting plan, you'll need to point your domain to our servers so your website and email work correctly.

Already purchased your domain through Cynet? No action is needed — your domain is automatically pointed to the correct nameservers.

What You Need

  • Your domain registrar login credentials (where you bought the domain)
  • An active Cynet hosting plan

Cynet Nameservers

Update your domain's nameservers to:

Nameserver
ns1.cynethost.com
ns2.cynethost.com
ns3.cynethost.com
ns4.cynethost.com

Steps

Step 1: Log in to Your Domain Registrar

Go to the website where you purchased your domain and sign in to your account.

Step 2: Find the Nameserver Settings

Look for one of these options in your domain management area:

  • Nameservers or DNS Servers
  • DNS Management
  • Domain Settings → Nameservers
The exact location varies by registrar. If you can't find it, check your registrar's help documentation or contact their support.

Step 3: Replace the Nameservers

  1. Remove all existing nameservers
  2. Add the four Cynet nameservers listed above
  3. Make sure all four are entered — this ensures redundancy and reliability

Step 4: Save Changes

Click Save, Update, or Change Nameservers (depending on your registrar).

Step 5: Wait for DNS Propagation

After saving, DNS propagation begins. During this period:

  • Your website may be temporarily inaccessible
  • Propagation typically takes 2–24 hours (most users see changes within 2–4 hours)
  • In rare cases, it can take up to 48 hours for full global propagation
You can check propagation progress at whatsmydns.net — search for your domain with record type NS.

What Happens After Propagation

Once nameservers have propagated:

  1. Your website loads from Cynet hosting — upload your files to cPanel → /public_html
  2. Email routes through Cynet — you can create email accounts in cPanel
  3. SSL certificate is issued automatically via AutoSSL
  4. DNS records are managed in cPanel → Zone Editor

Next Steps

After pointing your domain, continue setting up your hosting:

Troubleshooting

Website not loading after 24 hours

  • Verify nameservers are correctly set at your registrar — check for typos
  • Use whatsmydns.net to confirm NS records show Cynet nameservers
  • Clear your browser cache or try an incognito/private window
  • Flush your local DNS: run ipconfig /flushdns (Windows) or sudo dscacheutil -flushcache (Mac)

"This site can't be reached" error

  • DNS may still be propagating — wait a few more hours
  • Confirm your hosting account is active in the Cynet client area

Old website still showing

Your browser or ISP may be caching the old DNS. Try accessing from a different device, a mobile network, or use incognito mode.
