What Is cPanel?

cPanel is the industry-standard web hosting control panel. It gives you a graphical interface to manage your hosting account — from files and databases to email and security.

Accessing cPanel

There are two ways to access your cPanel:

  1. Direct URL:https://yourdomain.com/cpanel
  2. Server hostname: Use the link provided in your welcome email
Log in with the username and password from your welcome email.

Key Sections

Files

  • File Manager — Upload, edit, and manage website files directly in your browser
  • Backup — Download full or partial backups of your account
  • FTP Accounts — Create FTP credentials for file transfer tools like FileZilla

Databases

  • MySQL Databases — Create and manage databases for your applications
  • phpMyAdmin — Visual database management tool
  • MySQL Wizard — Step-by-step database creation

Domains

  • Addon Domains — Host multiple websites on one account
  • Subdomains — Create subdomains like blog.yourdomain.com
  • Redirects — Set up URL redirects

Email

  • Email Accounts — Create and manage email addresses
  • Webmail — Access email through your browser
  • Forwarders — Forward emails to other addresses

Security

  • SSL/TLS — Manage SSL certificates
  • SSH Access — Configure secure shell access
  • IP Blocker — Block specific IP addresses

Common Tasks

Uploading Files

  1. Open File Manager
  2. Navigate to public_html
  3. Click Upload in the toolbar
  4. Select your files and upload
Tip: For large uploads, use FTP instead of File Manager for better reliability.

Creating a Database

  1. Open MySQL Database Wizard
  2. Enter a database name → click Next
  3. Create a database user with a strong password → click Next
  4. Assign all privileges → click Next
  5. Note down the database name, username, and password

Checking Disk Usage

Click Disk Usage in the Files section to see a breakdown of space used by files, databases, emails, and backups.
